Aluminium Rattan 2 Seat Reclining Bistro Set

If you’ve had a steel garden set rust after a couple of wet winters, this is exactly why this bistro set exists. The frame matters, and that’s why we start there. Steel corrodes from the inside out through joints and bolt holes, so by the time you see rust on the outside, the structure’s already on its way out. This set uses an aluminium frame wrapped in UV-stabilised HDPE rattan, so you don’t get the cracking and fading that PVC rattan is known for after a couple of summers.

In the box, you get 2 reclining chairs, 1 coffee table and the dark grey and charcoal cushions. Each chair reclines with an easy-to-use handle, and the back cushions are 10cm thick, which is the sort of depth you notice after an hour outside, not just the first ten minutes. The table is topped with 5mm clear tempered safety glass, so it handles British temperature swings better than standard glass, and at 55cm high it’s spot on for drinks, books or a plate. Chair dimensions are 78cm wide x 66cm deep x 97cm high, with a 48cm seat height.

Cushion care is simple. Store them away when you’re not using them. They should be kept indoors over winter. We don’t use waterproof cushions because they feel clammy, trap heat, and the coating tends to crack after a couple of summers; instead, these covers can be removed and machine washed at 30°C. The frame and rattan just need a damp cloth or a rinse with the hose.
